Huan Chen is a Chinese-Canadian visual artist who is interested in exploring the relationship between human and nature. She has undergraduate and Master’s degrees in chemical engineering, where she was exposed to issues on the environment, a topic of many of her works. Her recent works reflect upon the impact of man-made activities on landscapes and the importance of natural and cultural preservation. She has exhibited in many juried shows and is a recipient of multiple awards, most recently the Rheta Fines scholarship from the Women’s Art Association of Canada, and the Annie Smith Travel Grant and Graduate Grant. Huan received her BFA from the joint program of Art and Art History at University of Toronto and Sheridan College, and is currently pursuing her MFA in the Interdisciplinary Art, Media and Design program at OCAD University.
